Natalie and I both worked for my company, and my boss had scheduled a flight with a captain for educational purposes. So we could understand how our company uses planes. But the pilot said he was busy and would have to reschedule. We asked what time and he said he wasn’t sure so he just gave us the keys to the plane and said have fun. While we were flying we tried to do a roll and a loop. Both were successful and then we tried to land. While we were headed down we saw a bunch of other plans collide and explode. We still landed our plane but knocked a sign because we had to realign for the landing. When we landed we realized we left the cargo back door open the whole time but luckily all the cargo was strapped and nothing came loose. The plan crash was all over the news and we didn’t know what to do. I was filled with anxiety, what if we had caused the crash? Are we going to get fired? After I went on a ski trip vacation with Brandon and I kept having this feeling of telling the truth and coming forward that we did fly the plane but that the captain had given us the keys and told us to go. I asked Natalie and she said her ex boyfriend Joel said they would have no way of knowing it was us because we weren’t in the flight logs or in the media images. But I kept feeling anxious that we could be on film and it would be better to come forward but that I didn’t want to lose my job. So I stayed at a crossroads. Then a random girl came into Brandon and i’s hotel room and drank our coffee and I was annoyed but didn’t tell her to leave but made comments about how we had no coffee anymore but she didn’t say anything she just smiled and kept drinking the coffee. When I got back to work there was an investigation about how was flying the other small plane. My boss came to talk to me and said she had papers for termination but she had a plan to see if she could rehire me as a Custer service support person. Which would be a demotion. I got upset and yelled “can’t I say my side of what happened?” I told her about the captain and the keys. But she still seemed disappointed saying just because we were given the keys did not mean we should fly the plane.
